01 · The practice
Children respond beautifully to gentle, age-appropriate herbs.
Children’s bodies are responsive and adaptive — they often respond more quickly than adults to well-chosen herbs. Common reasons families seek paediatric herbal medicine include recurrent ear infections, eczema, anxiety, sleep difficulties and digestive issues.

Safety note
Many herbs prescribed for adults are not suitable for children. Strong adaptogens, hormonal herbs, anticoagulant herbs and sedatives like Valerian and Hops are generally avoided. A registered medical herbalist or paediatric herbalist will only prescribe age-appropriate doses of gentle herbs (Chamomile, Lemon balm, Calendula, Catnip). Never give your child herbal medicine without working with a registered practitioner.
