Safety note
Several nervine herbs interact with prescription medication. St John’s Wort dramatically reduces the effectiveness of SSRIs, contraceptives, warfarin and many other drugs. Valerian, passiflora and hops can amplify sedatives. Never combine these with mental-health medication without working with a registered herbalist who can adjust doses and timing, and always tell your GP and prescribing psychiatrist about herbal treatment.
05 · Frequently asked
Questions about herbal mental-wellbeing support.
Can I take herbal remedies alongside antidepressants or anti-anxiety medication?
Some herbs can be used safely alongside conventional medications, but this must be assessed carefully. St John’s Wort, for example, interacts significantly with SSRIs. We screen all medications at your consultation and only prescribe herbs that are safe in combination.
Will herbal medicine make me drowsy?
Most herbs used for anxiety are not sedating during the day. Formulas are designed to promote calm without impairing function. Evening formulas may include gently sedating herbs where appropriate.
How quickly can I expect results?
Many patients notice meaningful improvements within 3–6 weeks. Adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha build effect over 6–12 weeks of consistent use.
Is this available as an online consultation?
